A spokeswoman for Gwent Police has confirmed that a man has made contact with them.
She said: "Following our recent appeal for information about an alleged assault on a 14-year-old boy in Beechwood Park on Saturday, November 4, a 28-year-old man has made contact with officers.
"The investigation is ongoing."

A TEENAGE boy was allegedly assaulted by a man in Beechwood Park, Newport, earlier this month.
Gwent Police said, at about 4.20pm on Saturday, November 4, a disagreement broke out between two groups of youths about the use of astroturf in the park.
It is alleged the father of one of the youths grabbed a 14-year-old boy and threw him to the ground.
Police have issued a photograph of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the alleged attack.
