A WOMAN remains in hospital after a crash near the One Stop shop on Caerleon Road on Wednesday.

The crash happened at 1.15pm and was between a white, VW Polo and a pedestrian near the One Stop shop between the junction of Beaufort Road and St Julian's Pub. 

A spokeswoman from Gwent Police confirmed an 85-year-old woman from the Newport area was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital by ambulance and remains in a stable condition.

Officers are investigating the collision and anyone who may have witnessed the incident asking to ring 101 quoting log 250 22/11/17

A NEWPORT road has been closed after a serious car crash.

The road is currently closed between The Ship Inn, Caerleon and Beaufort Road, St Julian’s after the incident occured at around 1.15pm.

A spokeswoman from Gwent Police said: "At approximately 1.15pm today, we received a report of a road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian near the One Stop shop on Caerleon Road.

"The pedestrian, an elderly lady, has been taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital by ambulance with serious injuries.

"Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to please call us on 101 quoting log number 250 22/11/17."
