THREE pupils from a school in Abergavenny have reached the final of a competition run by the DVLA to design a computer game about road safety.

Hywel Lewis, 10, Ella Gribbin, 10 and Sophia Elias, nine, of Our Lady and St Michael’s Primary School, created a game on cycling safety for the competition organised by the DVLA , along with the police, fire service, British Army and other road safety organisations.

Pupils from across Wales were tasked with creating a game using Scratch, a fun coding language.

The group of talented pupils are one of just five groups to have made it through to the final of the competition, which will take place on Tuesday, November 28.

They have already earned their school £750 worth of IT equipment by making the final.

Each of the five groups will present their game by showing a video, before a winner is chosen on the day.
