A HORSE has died after a suspected arson attack in Cefn Fforest.
The small stable was destroyed in the fire at about 6.40am this morning.
Firefighters from Aberbargoed and Merthyr Tydfil were called to the scene and used hosereels to put out the flames.
It is believed the fire is being treated as arson.
Janet and Brian Vokes, who are best known as the couple who raised the racehorse Dream Alliance, lost their three-year-old horse Rodders in the fire.
Rodders’ mother, 10-year-old Juwireya, was badly burnt in the fire and is currently receiving vet treatment.

A Gwent Police spokeswoman said: “The fire is still under investigation and it is a joint investigation between the South Wales Fire Service and Gwent Police.
"We received a call at approximately 7.20am this morning, reporting a fire at a barn on Cefn Fforest Avenue, Cefn Fforest.
"The barn was destroyed in the fire and a horse was found deceased inside. Another horse was found injured nearby and has since been taken to vets."
