SCHOOLS in parts of Gwent will remain closed on Wednesday as the weather warning for ice remains in effect. 

In Torfaen many school will be open, but some are still affected by the weather conditions.

The schools that will be closed are West Monmouth School in Pontypool, Abersychan, Griffithstown School and Garnteg Primary in Abersychan.

Schools which have also announced they are closed are Blaenavon Heritage VC Primary School, St Albans R.C. High School in Pontypool and Cwmffrwdoer Primary School in Pontnewynydd.

There will be no breakfast club at Ysgol Bryn Onnen.

In Blaenau Gwent schools that have currently confirmed as ones that will remain closed are Glyncoed Primary in Ebbw Vale, Canolfan Yr Afon in Ebbw Vale, Ebbw Fawr Primary Site and All Saints RC Primary in Ebbw Vale.

All schools in Monmouthshire will be open.

The MET office says that ice is expected to form on some surfaces overnight and into Wednesday morning.

The yellow weather warning says: "There will probably be icy stretches on untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths with some injuries possible from slips and falls. There is also a very small chance of travel disruption across parts of Scotland and northern England."
