MARY Shelley's gothic classic about reanimating dead flesh to create a living being isn't your usual subject matter for a panto.
But the Woodland Players are performing an altogether different take on Frankenstein - combining "laughter, music and fun".
The company came to being in 1971 and every year they've performed a Christmas panto. This year they decided to do a Halloween panto for a change.
"We thought it would be a great thing to do over the half-term period," said joint director Robert Comben.
"It's the first time we've done something like this - we think it will be a hit for all the family."
Frankenstein's monster is the unlikely hero of the piece - pitting his wits against Dracula and his mum Granula.
They'll be plenty of booing and cheering for panto fans, as well as all the usual audience participation.
The show starts appropriately on October 31 at Cwmbran's Congress Theatre and runs through to Saturday November 3.
Tickets are priced at £7.50 or £6 for concessions.
