A man has been arrested on suspicion of possessing an explosive device, police said today. Officers raided the 30-year-old British citizen's home in the Grove Park area of Blackwood, at about 4pm on Saturday, as we first revealed earlier today. The following day at 10.15pm, he was also arrested on suspicion of having items for use in connection with the commission, preparation or instigation of terrorism, under the Terrorism Act 2000. The second arrest came after articles were found by police searching his house. The property was made safe by army bomb disposal teams. Today he continued to be questioned in custody. A Gwent police spokesman said: "At this time police are treating it as an isolated incident and have increased police visibility in the area to reassure the local community.’’
