Glenys says focus must be on recession

GLENYS Kinnock will now take up a seat in the House of Lords, joining her husband Neil.

New Europe minister Mrs Kinnock, who has yet to choose her title, said: "I look forward to using my 15 years of experience in the European Union working on vital issues which affect our people and our neighbours.

"I am particularly pleased to be part of an invigorated government with the leadership, vision and determination to deal with the critical challenges faced by our country and to help families and communities to overcome this global recession."

a waste of space just like the rest of the kinnock family.
labour is really in trouble and scraping the barrel.
labour is making her a dame, what a cheek the valleys community she and her family have represented is still one of the worst places for poverty, poor health, poor housing and lack of oppotunity.
what the hell can she do for the country.
the family has made politics a lucrative business and made themselves plenty of money.

It is a shame that the kinnocks forgot along the way about the working man when they made a fortune for themselves. Their children have done well out of brussels aswell.

Labours song was, (I think):
Thou cowards flinch and traitors die, we’ll keep the red flag flying high.

Sang to the same tune but now much more appropriate is:
The working class can kiss my ar*e, I’ve got the foreman’s job at last.

I share the general disgust at the euro gravy train but, focusing on the appointment itself, i think it was an inspired choice.

How can Mrs Kinnock be 'a part of the government' when she hasn't been elected by anyone? She's just a primary school teacher who's husband just happened to be the worst leader the Labour party ever had!

If she uses her 15 years of experience in the e.u. they'll have to put a few more trucks on the expences gravytrain!!!

Hain- forgot to declare massive sums raised for his bid to be Deputy P.M. Jowell, didn`t know that she has signed papers for her husbands frauds and now Euro gravy train Kinock.
Labour are really scraping the bottom of the barrel.
Still. They won`t be there for long!

Shock, horror, its the return of the Raving Looney Party.
We now have a selection of second hand rejects running our Country.People who have been thrown out by the Voters for various reasons.Where on earth did Kinnock come from, she was tossed aside, along with her beloved, years ago.
We are now the laughing stock of the world. If the people of this country ever ote Liebour again they deserve everything that comes their way.Brown, you are a disgrace.
I was going to call this lot 'Dads Army' but that would insult a group of people who worked for the good of this Country in times of peril. This lot are only looking after themseves!!!

putting my head above the parapet here, but she has been voted in many times as an MP.

she spends her time in Europe on international development, children's rights, education, human rights, gender issues, disability rights, ethical business and fairtrade.

personally, i can't think of anyone else who is better qualified.

as i said before, aside from the general rants againt europe and the labour party, i would be interested to hear from others as to whom they would prefer. i can think of no one really.

Thanks Gareth. She 'has been' says it all! She has just stood down as an MEP and now moves to the unelected House of Lords. I rest my case!

seriously, we all know the issues with expenses and the like. i know no one who disagrees.

but the subject isn't about expenses, it's about a new europe minister.

can anyone give a reason why GK wouldn't be a good european minister and if not her, who?

I don't want ANY European Ministers. We already have MP's, AM's, all gorging on the gravy train as it is.... and we're STILL in a mess. One set of Ministers, ONE government for Wales, and we re-elect every 3 years to keep then on their toes. We're in a mess because none of these idiots show capability, are corrupt, and won't work for Wales. We need honest representation. Payment via results ? everyone else has to earn that way... we can save millions disposing of two out of 3 reps. Sod europe, its bad enough we get lectures and bias from Westminster, let alone a bunch of unelected euro spongers as well. It's no way to run a government or a country.
