A COLEG Gwent student became the first person to receive an award for his passion for game keeping.
Josh Williams, 19, who studied for an NVQ in the subject at the Usk campus, was given £150 from the Welsh Academy of Field Science.
He got the accolade after students from four colleges across Wales had to say why they wanted a career in game keeping.
His entry was chosen as judges felt he showed a real “spirit and desire” for the job.
Mr Williams is looking to spend the cash on something related to his studies as he aims to find a job on a game farm or estate.
He said: “I’m ecstatic to have won the award. It’s great to get my work recognised by the Academy. To have my work chosen as one worthy of this prize is fantastic.”
