ORGANISERS of the Caerleon Arts Festival are certainly not being sheepish about this summer's event A huge version of the humble farm animal appeared on the hillside above Caerleon on Sunday.
Made out of carpet, the installation is the work of Newcastle Emlyn sculptor Mark Folds and it has temporarily moved from its home in Carmarthenshire to Newport.
Measuring 40ft by 40ft, it is visible from a wide area and is a massive reminder of the theme of this year's festival.
All six sculptors taking part in the symposium on the Hanbury Field between July 17 and 19 will deliver their own interpretation of what sheep are all about.
On the final two days, there will be musical entertainment, arts and craft stalls and a range of sheep-related attractions.
With the main sponsors being Meat Promotion Wales, there will also be opportunities to sample choice lamb dishes.
Other festival activities begin on July 10 and include a gala night in the Ampitheatre on July 17.
