Body found in Penarth is missing Cwmbran woman


A BODY found in the water near Penarth was today identified as missing Cwmbran woman, Gemma Garn.

A Gwent Police spokeswoman said Miss Garn's body was found in the water by a boat crew near Flat Holm Island, off Penarth on February 3.

Tomorrow would have been Miss Garn's 27th birthday.

A postmortem examination was carried out, but the results were inconclusive and the cause of her death is as yet unknown.

Gemma, 26 from St Dials, Cwmbran, was last seen in the early hours of Saturday, December 19 2009 in the Pontnewydd area.

Her car was found abandoned on the Second Severn Crossing later that morning.

I've followed this story since it was reported,I checked everyday on the facebook group that was set up by her sister.

so,so sad that this is the outcome of it.

Very sad to hear this. I had hoped there was another reason for her disappearance.

I hope that, as a result of this, the Second Severn Crossing installs better fencing along the sides of the crossing, to prevent further tragedies like this? A few days' toll income should cover the cost.
