THE newly-crowned Miss Blaenau Gwent is following in her mother's footsteps by becoming a beauty queen at the age of 19.
Chloe Trapnell, from Ebbw Vale, was put forward for the competition by her mum, Tracy Collier, 43 - who won two local beauty contests herself when she was her daughter's age.
Miss Trapnell, who works as a teaching assistant at Willowtown Primary School, won the title at a catwalk show held at the Metropole Cultural and Conference Hall in Abertillery last Friday.
She wowed the judges in four rounds, which included an interview, casual round wearing a top and jeans, little black dress round and ball gown round, in which she wore a blue and white dress.
In addition to taking to the catwalk, Miss Trapnell won the public phone vote and raised £750 for children's cancer charity The Joshua Foundation, the competition's chosen cause, through street collections and working a shift at a brake-making factory.
Miss Trapnell said: "I'm ecstatic. I can't believe I've won because I've never done anything like this before."
She will now go on to compete for the title of Miss Wales 2010 in Cardiff on June 26.
