NEWPORT will spend a whole week celebrating Prince William's marriage to Kate Middleton next month, with seven days of events and activities kicking off from April 29.
Newport council is holding a retail and royalty week from April 29 to May 6.
Events will include shopping promotions in the city centre throughout the week, and a day of traditional entertainment to mark the future king's wedding in John Frost Square on April 30. The day will offer free family activities such as face painting street entertainment.
Punch and Judy shows and magic at There will also be fancy dress competitions, with categories for babies to four-year-olds, five to eight-year-olds and anyone over the age of eight.
There will also be a royal-themed fashion show with outfits from shops throughout Newport.
A spokeswoman for Newport council said "There'll be plenty of giveaways and fun games, so bring a picnic and a flag to enjoy this special occasion".
On the day of the wedding on April a people will be celebrating with street parties, with four applications to Newport city council for road closures so far.
City pub The Ridgeway is also planning a marathon party.
More than 250 people are expected at the event between 11am and 11pm.
