AN OAKDALE school was awarded a top ICT award.

Ysgol Gymraeg Cwm Derwen received the BECTA ICT mark as an acknowledgement of its commitment to building an environment where pupils develop skills for the future.

The award is also a recognition that pupils are prepared to use information technology while being aware of e-safety.

Head teacher Richard Carbis said: “I am delighted to have received this award in recognition of all the progressive work of teachers, staff and pupils at the school.”

Caerphilly council leader Councillor Allan Pritchard presented the award to the school.

He said: “It seems like only yesterday that Cwm Derwen opened its doors to its first pupils and it is a credit to all those involved that they are already picking up such prestigious awards.”
