DENTISTS, dental nurses and hygienists will swap their uniforms for sportswear as they tackle a half marathon to help improve the oral health of the developing world.

The group of 14 workers from Beaufort Park Dental Surgery, Chepstow will be putting their training shoes on for the Cardiff half marathon on October 16.

The runners hope to raise £1,500 for charity Dentaid, which has supplied refurbished dental surgeries for charitable projects in communities in need and played a vital role in oral health promotion, and the Mouth Cancer Foundation.

Participant Victoria Croft said the group are focusing on their training to make sure they make the event in top condition and they hope raising funds will do some good for a cause close to their hearts.

She said: "There is a few of us who are keen runners so we decided to do something for charity, and hopefully through the ones we have chosen we can help make a difference."
