A NEWPORT man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm following the incident in Bassaleg this morning.
The 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm in Thornbury Park, Rogerstone.
A Gwent Police spokeswoman said the weapon was recovered and found to be an air rifle.

Armed response officers, the police helicopter and police dogs unit are all at the scene.
Officers were called to Ruperra Close, Bassaleg, at 11.25am after reports of man with a firearm in the area.

POLICE said that the incident involves a man with a suspected firearm.
They are currently carrying out a search for the man and a cordon is in place around the scene on Ruperra Drive in Bassaleg.
