Newport woman raided OAP to buy heroin

A NEWPORT woman climbed through a pensioner’s open bedroom windowand burgled her while she slept, a court heard.

Rhiannon Gibbons, 26, of Windmill Square, appeared at Cwmbran Magistrates’ Court where she admitted burgling 77-year-old Enid Dannaher on December 5, last year.

Prosecutor Mark Salter told the court Mrs Dannaher had left her window open while she slept, with the defendant climbing through and taking her handbag containing a mobile phone, credit cards and £60 cash. Mr Salter said she spent the £60 on heroin and discarded the handbag.

Gibbons will be sentenced at Newport Crown Court on June 15.
