First-class target missed for NP postcodes

First published in Gwent news

THE Royal Mail has missed its target for the amount of first-class post that reached its destination by the next working day for addresses with NP postcodes in 2011/12.

The company said that between April 2011 and March 2012 91.3 per cent of first-class post reached its destination on time – below the national target of 93 per cent and the area’s minimum standard of 91.5 per cent.

However, between January and March 2012 the company delivered 92.3 per cent of mail on time – beating its minimum standard.

Even "the next working day" is no good when the mail doesn't get delivered until 3:45pm. Whatever happened to the morning delivery before people go to work?

As above... getting post after 2pm is stretching the 'next working day' limits.

My postman regularly turns up at 5.30pm but one day it was 6.40 pm. I have mail posted to me from Newport and it takes 5 days to reach me 1st Class.
Most of the envelopes are not date franked so I cannot prove when they were posted.
I have skittle result sheets sent to me and if not received by Tuesday after a Friday game teams are fined.
It seems royal mail should be paying these fines.
