A NEWPORT man yesterday pleaded guilty to being nearly three times the drink-drive limit.

Villiam Tatar, 35, of Church Street, was stopped by police in the city’s Bolt Street on May 23 when they saw that his brake lights were permanently on.

Caerphilly Magistrates heard that Tatar, who is originally from Slovakia, was breathalysed and was found to have 97 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath – the legal limit is 35 micrograms.

He also admitted driving without insurance and without a valid MoT certificate.

Sentencing was adjourned for a probation service report to be prepared.
