A NEWPORT man has won an award for his voluntary work helping those who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Tom Dawes, form Duffryn, Newport, was one of sixe Action on Hearing Loss Cymru volunteers who were presented with awards to mark their commitment to the charity’s volunteering work, which includes providing advice and support to people in Wales who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Mr Dawes, who has been working on a project for the charity which works with young people aged from 16- 25, was awarded the Champion of the Brand Award for his work in the project’s office.
Speaking at the awards ceremony, which took place at the Cardiff City Stadium, Action on Hearing Loss Cymru director, Richard Williams, said: “We’re delighted to recognise the tremendous impact volunteers like Tom bring in providing essential support to deaf and hard of hearing people.”
