THE famous 1970s television game show It's a Knockout inspired two events for young people in Gwent on Sunday.

Caerleon Comprehensive School in Newport had a It's a Knockout tournament in the school grounds which it combined with its summer fete.

Students donated items such as biscuits, cakes, drinks, sweets and chocolate which was sold in aid at the event in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Over in Usk, the It's a Knockout Competition marked the end of the ten-day Usk Festival.

Usk Young Farmers Club, which has around 80 members, organised the famous tournament at Usk Cricket Club and this was followed by a hog roast.

Around 40 of its members turned up to take part or just watch and they were also joined by some members from other local young farmers clubs.
