MORE than 200 children from schools across Torfaen took part in a Welsh folk dancing festival this weekend.

The festival, organised by Cwmdeithas Gwyl Plant Gwent, was moved from Cwmbran shopping centre to Cwmbran Stadium on Saturday because of the weather.

Organiser Dawn Webster said it was only the third time since 1981 that the annual festival has had to move indoors.

The festival provides school teachers with the resources to teach folk dances in their schools, while parents help to make the Welsh folk costume.

She said: "It went wonderfully. The children are always fantastic. The teachers work very hard with them."

A festival was also due to take place in Abertillery on Saturday, while a festival was also organised in Newport at the end of June.
