NEWPORT children have helped create a mosaic which was unveiled in Bettws.
Pupils from Don Close Nursery, Millbrook Primary School and Newport High School each designed their own tile for the mosaic.
They, along with parents and Bettws in Bloom’s Special Arts Project and Saturday Art Club, worked with community artist Granville John on the project. The tiles were then joined together to make up four plaques – each one representing a different season.
Newport City Homes organised the project and The Four Seasons was unveiled in Bettws shopping centre on Friday while the Bettws Choir performed.
Staff from Newport City Homes originally met Communities First to look at areas that could be improved in Bettws and which could benefit from its environmental fund.
They then decided on the Bettws shopping centre, which was also being repainted.
A spokeswoman for Newport City Homes said it hopes the children will have a sense of pride in seeing their hard work displayed for the community to enjoy now and in the future.
