Man arrested after crash on Severn Crossing

UPDATE: A MAN has been arrested following this morning's crash on the Second Severn crossing.

The 31-year-old Slovakian man was arrested on suspicion of driving without due care and is currently in police custody.

Gwent Police confirmed that one lorry and four cars were involved and there were no serious injuries.

UPDATE: The Second Severn crossing has now re-opened.


12.40pm

UPDATE: FOLLOWING this morning's incident on the Second Severn crossing, the eastbound M4 is closed from junction 23 to the bridge.

Police said that the bridge should re-open at 2.30 this afternoon, but until then drivers must use the old severn Crossing.

This morning's incident involved two lorries and five cars.

FIRE CREWS were called to a collision involving three cars and and a lorry on the Second Severn crossing this morning.

The fire service released seven people from their vehicles after the incident on the eastbound, England-bound side of the road, after being called at 11.22am.

Four people were taken to hospital for precautionary checks.

So it was 3 cars and 1 lorry, then 5 cars and 2 lorries, and then 4 cars and 1 lorry.
