NEWPORT Amateur Radio Society will be taking part in a worldwide event this weekend, when they man the East Usk Lighthouse.
The society will be taking part in the annual International Lighthouse and Lightship weekend, which will see more than 660 lighthouses and lightships across the world on the air using amateur radio.
Visitors will be able to listen to information and greetings being transmitted and received from lighthouses and lightships from all parts of the world.
The society will be at the East Usk Lighthouse from 9am until 6pm on Saturday.
The station will use the special callsign GB4EUL. Visitors are welcome and there will be someone there to answer any questions.
Newport Amateur Radio Society is a voluntary club which meets every Friday at Brynglas House Community Centre from 7pm.
New members are always welcome.
