NEWPORT’s Olympic boxing silver medallist Fred Evans will receive a hero’s welcome when he visits a city Rotary Club.
Fred, 21, who trains at St Joseph’s Boxing Club became Wales’ first boxer Olympic silver medallist at the 2012 London Games on Sunday.
Now back in Newport, Mr Evans and his trainer Tony Borg will meet members of the Rotary Club of St Woolas, Newport next week.
During his visit Fred is expected to talk about his training and preparation for the Games as an amateur.
Zou Itani, the club’s president, said: “I am really delighted that Fred has agreed to come to meet our members, especially so soon after returning to Newport with his hard-fought silver medal.
“I am really looking forward to welcoming Fred to our meeting and to hearing how his success was so valiantly achieved.
“I am very grateful to Roy Chambers, chairman of St Joseph’s, for kindly arranging this event for us.”
