Deputy leader for Tredegar town council Alyson Tippings was delighted with Mark's win.
She said: "I'm so excited - wasn't he cool? He kept to his schedule and didn't try and chase his opponent, he just roped him in.
"I can't wait for our gold post box. The end of the race was such a memorable moment and I'm looking forward to all the visitors coming to Tredegar."

Mark Colbourne dedicated his gold medal to his late father Cecil, who died at the age of 74 from stomach cancer just before Mr Colbourne competed in the Paracycling World Championships last February.
He also dedicated the medal to his mother, who he said was in the crowd, and his daughter "whose been through a lot in the last three years".

Colbourne has already won a silver medal in yesterday's event and this morning he broke the World Record in the C1 Individual pursuit.

Paralympian Mark Colbourne said he was competing in memory of his late father.
The dad from Tredegar broke his back in a paragliding accident.
