YOUR Argus will be in Cardiff today to join the crowds expected to welcome home Wales’ Olympian and Paralympian athletes.

We will be giving live updates and pictures from our reporter as Wales hails the return of their athletic heroes at the Senedd in Cardiff Bay.

Athletes like Tredegar’s gold medal-winning Mark Colbourne, Newport’s Fred Evans, who scooped silver, and Cwmbran’s Kyron Duke will be among Team GB and Paralympics GB Wales stars on show.

First Minister Carwyn Jones and Welsh Secretary David Jones urged people to turn out in big numbers for a “welcome home” event for both sets of athletes in Cardiff on Friday.

The First Minister added: “Everyone in Wales can be truly proud of what our athletes have achieved as part of Team GB. Their determination and drive has been truly inspirational and made a huge contribution to Britain’s record medal haul.”
