A CHEPSTOW man who took part in Survival of the Fittest has raised more than £3,000 for an 18-year-old who broke his back.

Matthew Owen, 41, took part in the Survival of the Fittest event in Cardiff on October 7.

He completed the course in one hour and six minutes, and raised funds for the Dosh for Josh appeal.

Josh, 18, from Lydney, Gloucestershire, was the driver of a car when he had a crash on August 5.

He broke his back in four places and his neck in three, but Josh survived and has just come home after being in an induced coma for 10 days at Frenchay Hospital, Bristol, and a stint in a rehabilitation centre in Bath.

It’s going to be a long road to recovery and the funds being raised will be put towards his aftercare at home.

Mr Owen is the branch manager of Amlee Electrical, which is owned by Josh’s father, Shaun Lee.
