Irrigation is part of solution

First published in Letters

MR TERRY Banfield is again very wrong in his reasoning for birth control. Of course, if families only had a third of children they could afford to feed them much more easily.

Also he states that cultivation and irrigation are not the problem. If he ever left his castle in Llanyravon and visited these lands that have no running water or food to hand, he would see that properly managed irrigation of water would give these people the right to grow and eat their own produce. The billions we give in aid would be far better spent on new water supplies, so let him forget his rants on the rich and powerful.

Bobevans says...

Pure nonsence. Most of these countries have a harsh climate , poor soil and very limited water. Irrigation is going to make no difference in these instance and in fact this is whatt we see. Charities pile into these areas temporalliy raise living standards so the population goes up and we are back to square one

Charties are mainly to blame for the contining third world problems rather than improving things they are making things worse
