Cat charity site misleading
4:31pm Wednesday 31st October 2012 in Letters
I RECENTLY moved to Newport and contacted Gwent Cats Protection to apply to adopt a cat. It seems from conversation with one of their volunteers that because I live in a first-floor flat they are not keen on giving me a kitten or very young cat.
That general stipulation needs to be clarified on their website and, indeed, in any publicity they insert in the Argus. I suggest that if it is, it’ll drastically reduce the number of enquiries they get from prospective adopters.
Apart from the fact I’d not be able to give “garden freedom” to a cat, I could provide as good a home as anyone else, for either a kitten or very young cat. If it was previously unused to much outdoor freedom it would not be in any way unkind to the cat to keep it as an indoor cat. Daisy Dunphy, Pilton Vale, Newport

IT is not unreasonable that an animalorganisation takes resonable steps to ensure an animal goes to a suitable home. Most will state they will carry out some type of vetting of an potiential adopter.

I would wager that you don't have any pets Bob.
