Callous lack of compassion
4:24pm Thursday 1st November 2012 in Letters
I WONDER which “Christian values” Cllr Mike Harris will “stand up for”in regards to the fact that hundreds of failed asylum seekers are living in the UK on less than the UN’s global poverty target of 77 pence per day?
Pregnant women, children and people with disabilities are among those who have been left destitute on the streets. Does Cllr Mike Harris’ morality allow him to ‘turn the other cheek’ to asylum seekers who have been tortured, raped, injured or indeed persecuted for being homosexual? Has Cllr Mike Harris heard of the parable of the Good Samaritan? As an ex-serviceman, does he approve of the Home Office’s decision to reject Mohammed Rafi Hottak’s claim for asylum? (It seems working for the UK’s armed forces and being blown up by the Taliban was not enough proof!) Does Cllr Mike Harris’ Christian beliefs reject the European Convention of Human Rights regarding a person’s rights to humanitarian protection? If he wants to deport everyone in the UK that has not got a UK passport then this is actually what he believes! This shows a frightening and callous lack of compassion and empathy towards those fleeing oppressive regimes (created more often than not by the UK’s foreign policies eg war in Iraq, Afghanistan etc).

The key word here is FAILED assylum seekers. ie they have no right to be in the UK and we have no responsibility for them. They will have a roof over their head, They will be fed and they will be given any needed medical treatment untill they are returned home.
Nice to see your humanity shining through as usual!

The legal profession seems to have split into ambulance chasers who claim their activities are 'free' but everyone pays through higher tax or insurance premiums, and human rights lawyers who can exploit a single case for years and the tax payer gets the double whammy. The lawyer gets paid via public funded legal aid and the whole time the plaintiff is supported by benefits or illegal activity. This is yet another area no-one in this'democracy' of ours seems to want yet it continues.
I suspect you are talking about human rights lawyers, clearly the lowest life forms on the planet ! These are the people fighting Al-Queda's corners, illegal migration, abuse of British Taxpayers money, prostitute smugglers, people that still aspire to use slaves, areas that marry off 12 yr old girls to decrepit old men for visas, people who set up false 'universities' so illegals who wouldn't get here usually, sign up and then vanish into the woodwork, the people who organise 'gangs' to employ illegals etc etc, less HR lawyers more instant repatriations we should be helping those in threat of death, but the European laws clearly state FIRST port of call has to accommodate them, but Europe shunts them right up to Calais and then HERE. I think the first in line for repatriation to Siberia are these shyster lawyers ripping everyone off and contributing to the problem,we had Hook here for years taking the P.... enough. Human rights is a farce, a licence for these people to print their own money..
