How did Plaid member vote?

PLAID Cymru’s Mike Jackson claims he is disappointed and angry with the Labour councillors on Caerphilly council for giving senior management huge pay rises.

Perhaps Mr Jackson could tell us how the Plaid Cymru member of the council committee that agreed the rise voted? If Plaid wasn’t happy with the proposal then, why didn’t it say? Labour Caerphilly councillors have now quite rightly apologised for the mistaken pay award and are working to rescind it. Our recent decision to award the living wage to the council’s lowest-paid workers shows our true commitment to looking out for the worst-off. Shame the Nats never got around to introducing the Living Wage when they controlled the council.

Well said, Gez, this is exactly the champagne socialism and hypocrisy, which has put people off Labour. Labour line their own pockets and widen the gap between rich and poor. Far more tax was charged to the working classes under Blair and Brown than Cameron and Osborne.

I think that the awarding of substantial rises to the senior management of Caerphilly Council has been a good thing. Well, not in itself maybe, but them having to rescind it certainly is,in that it teaches Council members on the finance committees or whatever that they are not the little tin gods they think they are.
The whole affair has been a shambles from beginning to end.
When will Councils learn that they are not there for their benefit but for the communities that they serve, and this duty should be above politics.

Has Labour Councillor Gez Kirby been sleeping for the past month. He has asked a question as to how the Plaid councillor who sat on the committee voted. It has been widely publicised in the SW Argus and other publications that the Plaid councillor in question (James Fussell) DID NOT SUPPORT these salary increases for senior officers.
Stop digging Cllr Kirby, the hole that you and your Labour colleagues have dug for themselves over this fiasco is deep enough already.
I also understand you will have the opportunity at a special meeting of Caerphilly council later this month to reverse the decision taken by your cabinet colleagues over these pay rises. We hope you remember to press the right button when it comes to the vote.
