HOW odd that Conservative AM Nick Ramsey feels that there is a “Berlin Wall” being built between the NHS in England and the NHS in Wales. Does he not realise that health is a devolved issue with completely separate budgets so in effect it is now a “regional health service” as alluded to by his Westminster counterpart David Davies?
As an AM, Mr Ramsey is quite empowered to argue that his constituents be allowed to “buy in” the much more expensive services from the English NHS.
I do hope that both gentlemen are arguing as vociferously for people living just the English side of the border, but patients of Monmouthshire GPs get free prescriptions from the Welsh NHS. As both have served as AMs, I sometimes wonder if either really has a grasp of what devolution means?
