Apology for lighting delay

TO the residents who live around Green Lane and Fernleigh Road, Caldicot, may I apologise to those who have over the last few months been shrouded in darkness.

Just over a month ago, a resident in the area did advise me of the problem with the street lighting, saying he and others had reported it with no action. I then reported it to the appropriate officer of Mon CC who advised me Western Power had been informed. One month on and still no action. Late on Saturday evening I witnessed a near serious accident with a partially sighted person and again reported the problem, this time with more vigour. It’s a shame one has to go to such lengths to get action, but I suppose, a little embarrassment is better than a lawsuit.

On the inside says...

I cannot see the point in an MCC Cllr taking the blame for this or the credit for sorting it out. MCC cannot legally do the work themselves and cannot compel Western Power to act. The only long term solution would be to contract for the supply of electricity with someone else and that would take months to arrange. Western Power are to blame not MCC.
