REGARDING the possibility of library closures, the council states that all residents will be within two miles of a library. Well and good. What about the disabled? With my heart disease there are days when I cannot walk from Park Square car park to Central library. On good days it is a struggle. The disabled spaces are often taken up by the non-disabled, with rarely a warden or policeman in sight.

I have been a keen user of the library service for 75 years. Stow Hill library is my lifeline because I can always park fairly close to it, and the ever-helpful staff will obtain books from other branches for me. Could the council please think again; even if it means reducing the number of days that it is open at the present?
