Bravo to city snow-clerarers

MAY I take this opportunity to publicly thank Newport City Council’s Streetscene teams for their sterling efforts in tackling the snow clearance of the city centre so admirably last Friday? They worked diligently from the early morning to help make the streets and pavements as safe as possible for the many staff and shoppers who struggled into the city centre despite the heavy snow that had fallen.
At a time when all councils are facing increasingly austere times, it was especially heartening to see that every effort was made her in Newport to ensure that the city centre was kept fully accessible for pedestrians.
