ANOTHER shop leaves the city centre.
The retailers blame the council, the council blames the recession. They are both to blame. When Llanwern, Whiteheads and other works were alive in Newport, Newport was awash with money. While the retailers and shopkeepers were counting their money, the city fathers under their noses were cutting the heart out of the city centre, by opening retail parks on the outskirts of the city. They ruined upstairs in the market and no one complained, like the city forefather who got rid of all the nice buildings and gave us boxes. Will there come a day when the market moves to Spytty and the Civic Centre to Cwmbran?
