MP is there for constituents

YOU can’t win with some people.

An Argus letter-writer contacted me twice. He received instantaneous, courteous and helpful replies. He refused to confirm whether he was a constituent of mine. His letter to the Argus confirms he is not. Your correspondent’s complaint arises from a lack of understanding of the roles and responsibilities of Newport councillors, Assembly Members and MPs. My office has a great record of keeping in touch by letter, phone, e-mail, face-to-face contact and, a rare event these days, public meetings. ‘Time to talk’ meetings have been called by me to discuss various subjects including pensions, Afghanistan, MPs’ expenses and Newport jobs. All have been well attended with lively exchanges of views. On Thursday, March 7, constituents are invited to another meeting at the civic centre at 7pm, to raise concerns about my responsibilities. As always, I will try to answer all questions.

....He obviously caught you on a good day, Paul. That was not the experience that a friend of mine and I had when we contacted you and as for staying in touch.........never heard from you after the initial contact.
