IT’S great news that the British Isles Indoor Bowls Under 25 Series (Argus, January 30) is coming to the Glebelands Park, St Julians, on February 9 and 10.
The only traffic access route to and from the Glebelands Park is Bank Street, with poorly-sited 20mph speed signs, unfit-for-purpose speed humps, pedestrians of all ages struggling to cross this busy street, and an inferior road surface with the city council and a contractor in a three-year dispute. Hopefully, Newport City Council’s Streetscene Team and Gwent Police will ensure that the bowlers and spectators will be made aware of the speed limit and the poor quality road in Bank Street.
