Debate on facts not on myths

IF Len Price is going to accuse others of “being economical with the truth” he really should check his own facts before accusing others. His reference to us having “Welsh road signs, literature and advertising forced upon us when Welsh Nationalist Plaid Cymru made the Welsh Language Act the price of a coalition with Rhodri Morgan’s government” is quite wrong.

It was the Welsh Language Act of 1993, drafted and passed by John Major’s Conservative Government, which gave Welsh and English equal status in Wales and paved the way for today’s bilingualism, some years BEFORE the Welsh Assembly even came into existence. To be absolutely clear, I am no supporter of the “party of Wales,” but, irritated or not by the issue, let us all debate from a basis of truth and not anti-Welsh myth!

You can put a price on it because there is one. If you think it is worth spending on and Wales has to pay higher energy prices and have a worse NHS, Economy Education service because of it that is down to you. Most sensible people would disagree particularly as few people use it. A quick check of various organisations puts demand for the Welsh language at under 1%
Is it worth spending hundreds of Millions on it each year for under a 1% usage. I would say not.

Total rubbish, we were paying through the nose before welsh was recognised, and still are. Some people are just looking for an 'soft option' to blame, it is either the welsh speaker, the disabled, the elderly, or (ANY) benefit claimant, but facts spoil a good rant let's face it.
