I'll welcome supermarket

I WAS greatly pleased to read in your paper that a new supermarket (Morrison’s?) could be coming to Blackwood at last and that the decision by Plaid Cymru to block it had been reversed.

I’ve often thought other supermarkets could have been supporting Plaid Cymru’s decision. I think justice has been done, congratulations to all.

Mr & Mrs Donivan appear to still believe that a Morrison's Superstore is on the way to Blackwood. However, the Chief Planning Officer has clearly stated that they have never ever put any planning application in to Caerphilly council to move to the site.
Out of town stores are killing the centre of Newport and many of our valley towns. Perhaps Mr & Mrs D would like the same thing to happen to Blackwood High Street.

Well what ever store opens there , it will say its going to create hundreds of jobs , but will it ,, it will take trade from asda and blackwood town , same as tescos did in risca , I don't think there' is as many people working there as they said they would , nest time your in blackwood ask the shoppkeepers how they are really doing , most people think that every £10 they ring in there till goes in the pockets , most will be lucky to get a pound out of it ,after paying the rates and running costs , most shops in the high street are all paying thousands just in rates , so I hope it downt go there , blackwood will vanish quicker than its is now ,,,

Lets make it very clear Plaid Cymru was supported by Labour councillors in the Rhymney valley. When the Morrison developement was turned down. Labour leader Harry Andrews and Labour councillors cllr Tudor Davies, David Carter and Cllr Diane Price all welcomed the news. This meant Bargoed will get its own food supermarket in Morrison. Nigel Dix the right winger like to put one town against another. Labour Rhymney councillors supported Bargoed, while Labour Islwyn supported Blackwood. The Labour party is well and truly split within the Caerphilly council chambers.
