Sites no good for travellers

MAY I take this opportunity to thank Frank Weston and associates for their time and effort in forming the Ringland Matters Group?

It was formed to raise awareness and discuss the matter of the proposed Gipsy and travellers’ sites, one at the still-used Road Safety Centre and the other at the allotment site at Ringland. Frank chaired the meeting and made it clear from the start that any racism or abuse would not be tolerated. Everyone who spoke conducted themselves in an appropriate manner, including a contingency from the community under discussion. There were no raised voices or confrontation. It became apparent that the Gipsy and traveller community did not want these sites. It is obvious that sitting too close to any school will encourage the unruly element to abuse these people. The Ringland Matters Group will now support these people to campaign for a site more suitable to their needs. Whoever is responsible for proposing these sites as the most suitable have demonstrated total incompetence.
