History can boost city

I support the comments in the South Wales Argus for the medieval ship to stay in Newport.

If you look at the effect on Portsmouth, Bristol and Dover of major historic ship exhibits in those cities, then you can see how such a project could help Newport’s city centre. We have a chance of major national and international attraction which could draw visitors to Newport. As there are other strong competitors for attracting visitors and shoppers can we afford to lose this opportunity?

We all appreciate the huge cuts in service affecting local authorities and the city council could not afford to take on a project on its own. Hopefully this story will help to concentrate minds on the need to save and display the ship that has already cost millions of pounds of public and private money. At the very least the council needs to explain exactly what it hopes to do and call a meeting of all interested parties to explore the options.

exactly and well said-HMS Victory,The Warrior and Cutty Sark are tremendous draws-would not a fully restored medieval ship ship be on a par or even better?
