Call for cash to be refunded
2:52pm Thursday 21st February 2013 in Letters
Reading the article about the sale of the chairs at St Paul’s Church, my husband and I are really upset about this. We were some of the people who raised a lot of funds for the church to be re-opened.
Together with my late mother, Violet Baylis, my late mother and father in laws, Mr and Mrs Bryn Price of Cwmfelinfach, and my (aunt) Lilian Jones bought the chairs. Why weren’t we informed they were selling the chairs? And also what has happened to the money from the sale of the chairs? A plaque is not the same. We want our money refunded and given to a more suitable charity. May I include that I was a member of the Brownies, Girl Guides, a Sunday school teacher and I played the organ in the church. The church was used for christenings, weddings, confirmations and funerals in my family over the past years. The Reverend Bill Kelly and Reverend Sheila Toms also helped us to buy the chairs. On another point, may I state that the church grounds have deteriorated where I have family’s ashes buried.
