Search for old colleagues
2:56pm Thursday 21st February 2013 in Letters
Since January 2011, I have been searching for old colleagues who served with me in the Royal Army Medical Corps.
Between 1953 and 1959, we served in 6 Field Ambulance, Thornwood Camp, near Epping, in Essex. We are all in our mid seventies now (I’m 76), so time is running out. To date, I have traced 25 living members (one lives in Australia) of the above association, and sadly, another 15 are no longer with us. For the past two years I have had excellent relations with feature editors from all over the UK, magazines, journals, and in October 2012, the Daily Mirror published my letter, and four old pals got in touch with me. I have reason to believe that an old medic, possibly named Phillips, and from the Sebastopol area in the Eastern Valley served at Thornwood Camp in 1955-56, or thereabouts. However, unknown to me, there may be others living in the county who served there too. I, and my members, would be most pleased if you could find a small space in your letters column. If there is anyone out there, they may recognise me as: 23290342 Corporal ‘Taff’ Richards, Regimental Police and Camp Physical Training Instructor.
