Teachers are not to blame

THOSE who saw the front page picture of a teacher with the headline ‘Must Do Better Education in Monmouthshire is failing’ (Argus, February 20) may have got the wrong impression of what the story was about.

The report on pages 4 and 5 related to the ‘unsatisfactory’ grading given to Monmouthshire County Council as a local education authority. It does not, as the front page might suggest, criticise classroom teachers. Indeed, the word ‘teacher’ does not appear anywhere in the report.
