City centre is just so dismal

I HAVE to come to Newport once a week for a meeting.

The city is depressing enough when one has to walk past the empty shops, but then the council seems to have a habit of making things worse. The clock that stood in John Frost Square always attracted a crowd, young and old, waiting for it to strike, it gave a lot of pleasure to a lot of people, and will we ever see it again in working order? Now it is the Chartist mural – is Newport council ashamed of its social history background? Thankfully, after July, I will not have to visit the city any more Cardiff and Cwmbran are far more enjoyable.
