Please accept my apology

I READ Cllr Whitehead’s letter in the Argus yesterday (March 7) and I would like him to accept my apology for not understanding what he is involved in as a councillor on Bettws estate.

However, when I stood for the elections last year to try to become a councillor I was aware that there would be quite a lot of responsibility and time taken to do that job, if I was elected. I am retired from work and would have had more time to be a councillor and get involved in the things going on around the estate. I have very few family ties now as my children are all grown up, which frees me to get involved elsewhere. Being in the older age group, many of us do not have access to a computer, so cannot get on a website, but would prefer to meet their councillors out and about in the streets. This is what I meant about not seeing our councillors on the estate. So I hope that Cllr. Whitehead will accept this as what I was trying to say in my original letter.

Credit where it is due. It takes a big man to apologise.
