Great nursery must be saved
3:42pm Thursday 14th March 2013 in Letters
I WOULD like to express grave concerns regarding the proposal to close Two Locks nursery.
Nursery schools are important to our local young children and families because they focus exclusively on three- four- year-olds and cater for them appropriately, addressing each child’s individual developmental and cultural needs, and this is exactly what Two Locks provides. I fail to see how our children will benefit from being forced into a setting where there is far from enough room to cater for the number of children that are to be expected. I send my child to this nursery safe in the knowledge that he is well looked after by experienced, caring staff in a nursery that has been at the heart of a community for many, many years.
Two Locks has excellent facilities for outdoor play which do not have to be shared with older children, and has recently been refurbished to improve the children’s experience. My child is currently at Two Locks, where he has come on in leaps and bounds since starting last year. My intention is to send my daughter to Two Locks, where my son has been treated as an individual, nurtured and educated by staff who always have time to listen. A choice which is proposed to be taken away from me and my children. Please TCBC/LEA stop the needless closure of this wonderful nursery.
